Frank didn't feel old, in fact in human years he was only six. His KC certificate hung on the wall, a constant reminder of his genetic pedigree and the source of his pain. He wasn't a happy dog and his days of chasing badgers were far behind him. He looked at his best friend, the cane, and barked aloud "all I want for Christmas is a longer lead and a shorter spine".
